American Airlines Inc has just announced that it will be cutting 1,600 jobs soon.

American Airlines is a subsidiary of Fort Worth. Out of the 1,600 job cuts, 1,200 will be from flight attendant positions, 300 from airport services positions, 50 from cargo positions and 50 from other positions. Cuts will be made on seniority basis. Like most of the time, American Airlines is offering employees who volunteer to quit a bonus exit package.

The American Airlines employees received a letter on Thursday from Jeff Brundage, senior vice president of human resources, which said, “These reductions come as a result of our efforts to ‘right size’ our operation and respond to the weaker demand for travel by reducing our schedule, including seasonal changes, and addressing lower-than-expected attrition.”

These are not the only job cuts that the American Airlines has announced. Previously, it cut 40 jobs in its Kansas maintenance facility and will be cutting some more jobs in its Dallas-Fort Worth area.
